Art Work

  • Couture
My collage and mixed media art is based on using the vintage photos, post cards, and papers I've found at antique markets and estate auctions over the years. I love the look of old newspapers next to newly made tinted tissue papers, or some vintage lace scrapes next to some retro polka dot wrapping paper. I've been collecting vintage papers long before I started using them in my art work. It was like kismet that I eventually included the "stash" into my work.

More recently I have started to work in the encaustic medium. Working in hot wax has been like opening up a candy store for me...I love it!!! The idea of putting together the collage and encaustic is so inviting, I am always anxious to get working on the next piece.

I've also begun to work more abstractly always changing up on the design factor. I never pictured myself as an abstract artist, but I am enjoying the challenge that the elements and principles can throw at you.

Enjoy browsing my blog. I don't fancy myself a writer, I just present these things as I see them. I'm always adding to my library, hence the long book list...and they are all my favorites! I'm still working on the fav music list, even though I have tons of CD's that I listen to while I work. Be sure and check out all the links I have provided...I love links...and these are my favorite people and places to visit. Have fun and thanks for visiting!!!
